Designation of materials used in the manufacture of bags

The pockets are made of two or three different layers of materials. In the description of the bag, there is always an abbreviation of the material from which the bag is made. We offer you an explanation of what an abbreviation means and what property each material has.

When choosing bags, we recommend prioritizing functionality, in which case the appearance is always second.

It has long been untrue that the aluminum layer is the most important layer for preserving aroma. There is a replacement for metallized PET film or various combinations of films, e.g. BOPA + CPP.

All bags sold by us are intended for contact with food and the necessary certificates are available for all bags.

MICRON - the term micron and the symbol "μ" is a designation of the thickness of the foil and means one thousandth of a millimeter, 0.001 mm

KRAFT - paper layer. In most cases, recycled Japanese paper is used for production. You can stamp the bag or you can also use a sticker, but it is advisable for the sticker to have a thicker layer of glue, otherwise the sticker could peel off after filling the bag.

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) - PET has excellent properties for food packaging, especially its tensile strength, excellent chemical resistance, low weight, good elasticity and stability over a wide temperature range (from -60 to + 220 ° C).

PE - polyethylene - PE has a low specific gravity, the ability to shrink and weld by heat, excellent resistance to water and water vapor and, conversely, permeable to gases such as oxygen, carbon dioxide and aromatic substances. In most cases, it is used as an inner layer, thanks to which the bag can be closed with heat (welding with a welder or pliers).

OPP - oriented polypropylene - PP is similar to PE (polyethylene) in its properties. However, it is harder, stronger and more heat resistant.

OPP matt - matt finish of OPP foil. It provides the same features.

CPP - cast polypropylene - very similar properties to OPP, excels in high transparency and is stronger than OPP. In most cases, it is used as an inner layer, thanks to which the bag can be closed with heat (welding with a welder or pliers).

AL - aluminum layer. This layer serves to prevent light, moisture and oxygen from entering the bag.

BOPA (nylon) - the use of this film is still growing. It is highly resistant to punctures, provides a high barrier against gases and moisture. It has high chemical resistance. In combination with CPP or PE foil, it is a full-fledged replacement for AL foil. Stability over a wide temperature range (from -60 to + 150 ° C).

PERG (GPP) - parchment substitute is a writing paper made from natural raw materials without the addition of chemicals. This layer is non-greasy and waterproof.

BIO - compostable material (corn starch, paper, vegetable pulp). Bags, zipper caps and coffee valves are made of this material. The pockets differ from each other in the number of layers and the strength of the materials. The strongest protection "aroma save" is a bag marked "metallized". The material is fully compostable. Decomposition time from 2 months to half a year.
